You And What Army-
Winners of Red Bull Bedroom Jam, YAWA are lucky to be on this tour, although they are the opposite end of the music genre to the headliners tonight. Their rock-rap-syth blend seems thrown together, like from one song to another they can’t decide who they are. The frontman looked like a throwback to Hanson mixed with a mad scientist. He had a bit of stage presence but people were mostly concentrating on the guitarist. I must have been missing something with YAWA, because they seemed to be a hit with the majority of the crowd.
Boys like Girls-
This is where the screaming begins. Boys like girls always put on a good show, but tonight seems different, within a few sentences of the first song, the frontman, Martin has abandoned his mic stand and guitar in favour of wooing the crowd. The set continues like this until Thunder, in which he is left on the stage alone. Finishing with the hit Great Escape, all seems well until Martin took his top off and dove into the crown, causing mayhem and hurting several people in the process, yea, that’s what you expect from gigs, but in my opinion, it is a careless way to make an impression on the otherwise happy crowd.
Kids In Glass Houses-
Upgrading venue from their last tour, it is a nice change for KIGH, although makes me worry they wouldn’t bring their usual presence. Oh how I was wrong, they fill the room with a party atmosphere during the first songs and makes me wonder why they haven’t made this upgrade before. Frontman Aled’s usual antics such as jumping round the stage and goading the crowd are welcomed by many screams from the girls in the crowd. Songs from KIGH’s second album Dirt are a hit with the crowd but even more so are the old favourites from debut Smart Casual. The floral theme extends as far as the outfits to the wrought iron roses on the mic stand, this gives a visual aspect to the show in a better way than any other. With an acoustic song thrown in for good measure, it is clear that KIGH are dedicated and will be popular for many years to come, and thank god!
